Quick answer
Is Smart Add-Ons a good YITH Product Add-Ons alternative?
For some stores, yes. YITH Product Add-Ons has a free version, more option types and a long track record, and it can price by text length or make the first few options free. Smart Add-Ons has no free version, but it adds formula pricing, an add-on analytics dashboard, A/B testing and AI upsell suggestions on Pro, and conditional logic and file uploads are in the $89 Starter plan. Pick YITH to start free or for its wider option list; pick Smart Add-Ons to measure and test which options sell.
YITH is one of the most widely installed WooCommerce plugin vendors, and its add-ons plugin is a capable product. A YITH Product Add-Ons alternative is usually worth a look for one of two reasons: you want pricing formulas, or you want data on which options customers actually choose. We make Smart Add-Ons, so we’ve kept this comparison to what each vendor states on its own page, checked on 15 October 2026 on YITH’s product page (opens in new tab) and the free plugin’s WordPress.org listing (opens in new tab), and we say where YITH comes out ahead.

Where YITH comes out ahead
- A free version. You can try YITH’s add-ons on a live store at no cost, with conditional logic included. Smart Add-Ons has no free version.
- More option types. YITH lists color picker, number, time picker and product-selector options. Smart Add-Ons has ten field types and none of those four.
- Price by text length and first-options-free. YITH premium can multiply a price by the length of text entered, and make the first few selected options free. Smart Add-Ons doesn’t price per character and has no first-X-free setting.
- Track record and reviews. YITH has published plugins for years and has public ratings. Smart Add-Ons 1.0.0 was released on 30 September 2026 and has no reviews yet.
Where Smart Add-Ons comes out ahead
- Formula pricing. Pro can price an option from a formula that uses the product price, the quantity or another field’s number. Read how it works in WooCommerce formula pricing.
- Add-on analytics. Pro shows how often each add-on is viewed and chosen and the add-on revenue from paid orders, with refunds taken off. See the add-on analytics guide.
- A/B testing. Pro can show two versions of an option group on the same product and compare views, selections and revenue. See WooCommerce A/B testing for add-ons.
- Visibility by role and date. Pro can show an option group only to guests, customers or shop managers, or only between two dates.
- Paid-plan basics from $89. Starter includes conditional logic with AND/OR rules, validation and secure file uploads for one production site, and every license has a 30-day refund for any reason.
Which should you choose?
Choose YITH if you want to start free, need a color picker, number, time picker or product-selector option, or price text by its length. Choose Smart Add-Ons if you want formula pricing, or you want to know which options customers actually pick before you add more. Either way, test on a staging site first: option setups don’t transfer between plugins, so moving means rebuilding each product’s fields, while past orders keep the choices saved on their line items.

YITH Product Add-Ons alternative FAQ
Can Smart Add-Ons import my YITH option setup?
No. Smart Add-Ons imports and exports its own option groups, but it can’t read another plugin’s settings. Rebuild the fields in Smart Add-Ons; a group can apply to a whole category, so shared options only need building once.
Does Smart Add-Ons have conditional logic in the cheapest plan?
Yes. Show or hide rules with AND/OR conditions are in Starter and Pro. Read the setup steps in WooCommerce conditional product options.
How can I try it before switching?
Open the live demo store to try conditional logic, image swatches, file uploads and the live price preview as a shopper. Plans are on the Smart Add-Ons page, and the 30-day any-reason refund means you can test it as your YITH Product Add-Ons alternative on your own store without risk.
