How to add a checkbox group

  1. In WordPress, go to Smart Add-Ons → Add-On Groups and open a group, or click + Add group.
  2. Click + Add field.
  3. Enter a Field label and set Field type to Checkboxes.
  4. Under Options & prices, enter a Label, a Value and a Price for each extra. Click Add option for more.
  5. Choose the Price type: Fixed amount, or Percentage of product price.
  6. Click Save group, then open a product the group applies to and check the field.

Example: optional extras on a gift box

A gift store adds a checkbox group labelled “Extras” with Gift bag (2), Ribbon (1) and Handwritten card (3). A customer ticks Gift bag and Handwritten card: 5 is added to the price and the cart shows “Extras: Gift bag, Handwritten card”. A separate “Card message” textarea uses the rule “Extras Contains handwritten_card”, so it only appears when that extra is ticked.

Checkbox group FAQ

Can I limit how many options a customer ticks?

Not in version 1.0. Customers can tick any number of options; Required field enforces at least one. If only one choice is allowed, use Radio or Dropdown.

How do conditional rules work with several ticked options?

Use the Contains operator with the option’s Value. The rule matches when that option is among the ticked ones.

How are the choices shown on the order?

As one line under the product, with the ticked labels separated by commas.
