Getting Started
License Activation
Activate Smart Add-Ons license key to unlock auto-updates and, on Pro+ plans, advanced features.
1
Activate your license
- In WordPress admin, go to Smart Add-Ons → License.
- Paste your license key into the input field. The key format is:
ADDF-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX - Click Activate License.
- The status indicator will change to Active and show your plan name (Starter, Pro, Agency, or Enterprise).
Your license key was emailed to you at purchase. You can also find it in your customer portal at app.dhyansoftware.com → Licenses (opens in new tab).
What happens after activation
- A JWT license token is stored locally in WordPress options (refreshed every 15 minutes)
- Auto-updates are enabled — new plugin versions appear in Plugins → Updates
- Feature flags from your plan are applied immediately (e.g., A/B testing and AI suggestions unlock on Pro)
- A 7-day local grace period activates — if the Dhyan Cloud is unreachable, your license remains valid for 7 days
2
Deactivating a license
- Go to Smart Add-Ons → License.
- Click Deactivate License.
- The activation slot on the Dhyan Cloud is freed immediately.
- You can now activate the same key on a different site.
You can also deactivate from your customer portal: app.dhyansoftware.com → Licenses → View Activations.
License error codes
| Error code | Meaning | Fix |
|---|---|---|
INVALID_KEY | The key is not recognized or is for a different product | Double-check the key in your customer portal. Keys start with ADDF-. |
ACTIVATION_LIMIT_REACHED | All site slots on your plan are used | Deactivate on another site first, or upgrade your plan. |
DOMAIN_MISMATCH | The site URL does not match the activation record | Deactivate the old record from the customer portal, then reactivate. |
EXPIRED | Your annual license has expired | Renew from app.dhyansoftware.com. A 14-day backend grace period applies after expiry. |
UNREACHABLE | Could not connect to Dhyan Cloud | Check your server's internet access. A 7-day local grace period prevents interruption. |
Grace periods
Smart Add-Ons has two grace period layers to prevent store disruptions:
- SDK grace period (7 days) — if the Dhyan Cloud cannot be reached (heartbeat fails), the local JWT token remains valid for 7 days before features are locked
- Backend grace period (14 days) — after a license expiry date, the Dhyan Cloud continues to serve a valid (downgraded) token for 14 days to allow time to renew
